Will Fowler

Hi! I'm Will. I'm a technical AI governance researcher currently working on building the data center tools that can verify compliance with future AI treaties and agreements.

I am a Research Manager for the upcoming Frontier AI Security Residency at ERA where I provide operations support and help residents scope their hardware verification projects.

I am also a fellow at the UChicago Existential Risk Lab where I work on estimating the number of floating-point operations in LLM training runs based on system-level readings and side-channel input.

I previously worked with MIT FutureTech on improving the AI Incident Tracker, a tool which uses LLMs to classify news reports of AI incidents. You can read the blog post of my work here.

In Spring 2025, I was a technical AI governance fellow at Pivotal Research where I worked on tracing the progress of LLM decentralized training.

In May 2026, I graduated from Tufts University with a B.S. in Computer Science.

I love performing improv comedy and playing volleyball.
